Transitioning your Home into Spring
If you live in the Denver area, you know it already feels like Spring out there! Here's a little step-by-step guide to help get you into the mood for a refresh in your home . . .
Step 1: Clean the slate
Time to grab the broom and wash rag. For some of you, this is a no-brainer! For the rest of us impulsive types, it's easy to overlook when you're excited to freshen up your home. So how do you make it fun? Open your windows, get your comfy pants on, turn on your favorite podcast station, and take this as an opportunity to get your body moving again after that long hibernation! Grab the essential oils and bring the aroma of Spring to your space with lavender or citrus to lift your spirit.
Make a task list for the weekend - this will help you not get carried away when you discover long-lost photos and start analyzing your past. Trust me, you can let it go! Having your home clean will help you better visualize the changes needed. Also, you won't have to vacuum under that couch when you move it because you've already been there/done that. After you've cleaned every corner, you'll start to see the parts of your home that aren't functioning well even when they're spotless. Time to revisit your Pinterest boards and begin the project planning!
Step 2: Bring the Outside In
This is the best trick for your Spring refresh! Before the grass turns green again and the tulips pop up, get a leg up with some new houseplants. Adding new foliage to your space will instantly add color, texture, and positivity. Here at Revampt, we're excited to begin selling houseplants! We have a variety of plants in all sizes, so stop in this Spring to load up.
As someone who's worked in a flower/plant shop, I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say "I always kill plants" or "I'm just not good with plants." I used to say that too - it was almost an excuse to not take the risk of buying a new plant - "what a waste of money... it's just going to die." Well, lucky for you there are plants that don't always need your full attention (cacti, succulents, snake plants, ZZ plants...)! Once you find yourself wanting to water your cactus (when you don't need to), perhaps it's time to try a spider plant. Google "best indoor plants" and you'll find a wealth of knowledge for what type of plants would thrive with the type of light you get in your home. Don't be afraid of killing plants - every thing dies at some point and there's always something new growing! Worth it.
Step 3: Have a Paint Party
Grab the knick-knacks and give them a fresh coat of color! Ever wonder what that wire basket would look like turquoise? How about rose gold? It's time to visit your local home and garden store and grab all of the paint samples you want. Are you in love with a particular shade of blue that just won't work on your walls? Apply it to a picture frame or a floating shelf. Bringing a new shade of color into your home will enliven you and keep things interesting. Be bold!
Step 4: Accessorize
Here at Revampt, (beyond custom furniture) our specialty is home accessories. Whether it's wall hangings, industrial table lamps, or a modern printed blanket, we have those quirky pieces that will add some reclaim charm to any home. When you have dinner parties this summer, you'll get to share "what that used to be" and inspire your friends! Spring is all about breathing life into your wild ideas - what will you create?
